Bruins for Business Health has officially welcomed its Fall 2023 cohort of new members! This year, the BBH crew is bringing in a diverse array of majors, years, and aspirations to the table. With members from Neuroscience to Business Economics majors, freshmen to seniors, and future consultants to future doctors, we are so excited to see how this cohort will learn and grow together here at BBH. Let's hear what a few of these amazing new members have to say about why they joined BBH, their future plans, and more!

Many new members joined BBH hoping to explore different avenues within the life sciences. While a big part of the cohort is thinking about Pre-Med, they also hope that BBH will help them to learn about other exciting paths that they can take!

Emily Sobel, a second year neuroscience major, was inspired to join BBH after she attended last year’s fundrager. She is looking forward to spending more time with her family and getting to learn more about professional development! As she says, “there is no course or class that teaches you professional development so it's really nice to have a space full of experienced students who can guide you through your questions and concerns along the way!”

Manish Yalamanchili, a first year business economics major who wants to open his own practice one day, hopes to learn more about the intersection of healthcare and business, and how BBH can help him achieve his entrepreneurship goals.

Our new cohort has also had some pretty amazing experiences. Sam Hajaliloo was able to work for Neoterex which developed a set of COVID-19 blood testing kits that were used by universities all over the country. He helped manage their sales workflow and made sure that orders were sent according to schedule. Peiran Li, a second year MCDB major, worked in a lab in China that investigated cancer cell cultures using fish. Lastly, Aravinth, a second year Business Economics and MIMG double major, helped with research in both cardiology and economics labs at UCLA last summer, which is perfect for BBH because it combined Business and Biology!

All of these sound like amazing experiences so make sure to talk to your fellow BBH members because they definitely have some fascinating backgrounds and skills to share!

In the future, many Bruins for Business Health members are looking forward to learning from different speakers about how they achieved their goals in the Business Healthcare space. As Sam mentioned, it's the chance to learn from “someone who’s done what we’re interested in doing, which is a really great resource”. Emily Sobel pointed out that board office hours are another great way to learn about other UCLA students’ experiences and how they’re working towards achieving goals that may be shared amongst BBH members.

Other new members are excited for more socials and the chance to meet and learn from their fellow BBH members, especially our fundragers and retreats! We believe that one of the best things about BBH is the community that we get to build together and we are so excited for more bonding events to come in the next few weeks. We hope to see you all there!
